Master Bedroom Makeover After - the tour - One Room Challenge Spring 2015

Its here!

Today is the day, exactly 1 year, 3 months and 29 days since I hit publish on my first master bedroom post..., the master bedroom is FINALLY done (well, done if you ignore the missing baseboards....)!

This would not have happened without the motivation and encouragement from Linda at Calling It Home, the other linking participants and my fabulous readers! It was a real doozy of a challenge, but walking into a freshly done room makes it all worth it!

If you missed any of the makeover series you can catch up HERE:

So, enough chit chat, you all want to see the pictures don't you....?

Here's a reminder of what we started with (THE bed!)....

Master Bedroom Makeover - DIY Headboard & Bed, vintage Decor, yard sale finds, salvaged wall sconces, hand sewn pillows

and here's my design mood board...

and the After!

Master Bedroom Makeover - One Room Challenge Spring 2015

As you can probably guess from the title, the master bedroom received the most votes (67% actually!) for the Spring One Room Challenge! I really thought it was going to be a nail biter, but I guess people are ready to see me finally do something about this space.

I'm not gonna lie, I am sooooo excited to tackle our master!

Just to recap, in case you're scratching your head wondering what the heck the One Room Challenge is, its a design challenge put on by Linda at Calling it Home. The goal is to completely makeover a space in 6 weeks - start to finish! I'm choosing to participate via the link party on Thursday's, but you can also find the "professionals" tackling their spaces on Wed! Its so much fun to follow along!! If you happen to visiting from the link party, then welcome to Averie Lane!

So, that brings us back to the master bedroom...here's the room when we moved in:

Downright DEPRESSING.

Master Bedroom Idea Board

As I am putting the finishing touches on my son's room (I just have curtains left to sew!) , I can't help but dream about my own room...

...not to mention, when I was contacted by ProFlowers and asked which of the spring flower trends I would incorporate into a room design, I just had to take a break from the boy's room and put together a design board!

Master Bedroom Design board : Salvaged pieces, vintage, tribal, western, and rustic.

Hopefully soon we will have light, bright and white walls and then I can begin adding other elements around the focal point of the room :  our DIY platform bed with salvaged door headboard

When we found the doors, the one thing I refused to do was change the color of them. I just love the minty green paint with hints of peach and wood peaking through. I think it lends itself well to a serene bedroom with lots of natural elements. It also plays so nicely with the "Country Garden"  flower trend- the succulents I chose are the perfect colors with my headboard! I would love to bring some greenery like them into my room.

I don't plan on running out and buying everything on this design board since I do NOT have the budget for that, but it is the beginning of yard sale season and I hope to find some goods to add to our room!

What do you think!?

I'm itching to tackle this room!!!
