Fabric Design - One Room Challenge Spring 2015

How are you hanging in there?

Halfway through the ORC and I'm feeling the pressure! I knew I would be since we had some prior commitments that took us away from the house over the weekend (aka, I got diddly squat done on the actual room) but I still have something SUPER exciting to share with you today!

Back at the new year I made a promise to myself - not necessarily a resolution, but more of a goal list of sorts - to do the things that I have been talking about for soooooooooooooooo long, but never following through on.

We all do that right?

Welp, I decided that 2015 was the year to start doing.

One of the things on my list was to design a fabric line based on my blog and Etsy shop.

Say, what!?

Yup!

I took some drawings and designs that I have been working on - you will notice that they have been or are being used as part of my blog header as well -  and turned them into fabric designs!

Get where I'm going with this?

I will be sewing up my own accent pillow for the bedroom!

Pretty cool, right!??? I can't even explain how excited I am!

Let's look at my design board from week one of the ORC again... if you remember I said I was planning on incorporating my own art in a unique way. Well, do you see that cow sketch below? Its the one I picked to be used on my pillow!

DIY Custom Pillowcases

DIY Custom Pillowcases
These make a great handmade Christmas gift and are so super easy you could have a whole stack of them done in just a couple hours! (I don't lie, I'm still a pretty novice sewer and this was simple to master!)

Burlap and Sweater Stocking {tutorial}

I am super duper excited to be linking up with Naptime Creations today in her "A Crafty Christmas" Blog tour! I'm part of the Gifts/Wrapping - Sewing , so I decided to dust off an old post, take some new pictures and share with you what I feel is the ultimate in gift wrapping- THE STOCKING!
Seriously, its the FIRST thing most kids open up on Christmas morning...at least that's how it was when I was growing up...and then we would wait and wait and wait until our parents got up so we could open everything else!

Burp Cloths Part II {sewing}

I have been on a sewing roll as I prep for our little man's impending arrival!

We are at the 35 week mark which means only a couple weeks until I'm full term!!  Wowza!

I spent the last week and a half teaching myself some basic sewing...it started off pretty rough, but by the time I was done making 12...count them TWELVE burp cloths, I pretty much worked out all the kinks and they don't look half bad! Yay me!
Don't you just love these!??

Spa Wrap and Pig Pillow {sewing}

I thought I would share the gift I sewed for my niece Baylee!
My first REAL sewing project all by myself!
 It took a lot of seam ripping and redoing, but I finally got it right!

Office Chair Makeover {before & after}

As you know we have been working on our office...and it is SOOO close to being done. Since I know the suspense has to be killing you, I thought I would share a sneak peek at one of the projects I did for the room.
Since my taste is a little on the expensive side, but my budget is clearly not I had to again get creative with an office chair solution. Luckily I scored some new{old} dining chairs over the summer so I could retire my old ones. Originally I tried selling the set on our local yard sale Facebook page, but then the more I looked at them I realized I was missing an opportunity to use them in the office!

Here's the before-
