Pinterest Challenge {update #3}

Part of my goals for the Pinterest Challenge was to make a headboard out of old doors. I bought a large old white paneled door off of our local yard sale page & was totally prepared to do a horizontal headboard BUT then..

 I found these doors...

in a wood pile at the farm.

Waiting to be burned!

Ack!!!!

I couldn't believe it!

I helped my husband dig them out of a ginormous pile of wood scrap (which was pretty laughable considering I was 8 months preggo at the time) and we hauled them home.
He did all the work of cleaning them up, getting off all the loose paint and he figured out how to put them up.  So I guess you can say he completed my goal for me- while I  kicked back and watched. He's the BEST!!

The color on the doors is original...and its mint green.
Not the color I would have chosen, but I just can't bear to change it right now. Its hard to fake this kind of natural weathering and patina.  So I am doing my best to work with it and I've lucked out that mint is on trend for spring.
So far this is what we've picked out for bedding(the comforter was a screaming deal at just $27 bucks- in Oregon too, so NO TAX!) I scored the sheets and a memory foam mattress at Fred Meyer.

Is it weird that I haven't put it on the bed yet? I just really want to have that big WOW moment...I'm pretty sure my husband thinks I'm crazy, but I want to wait until the room is painted- which means I'm bringing home lots of paint samples (leaning  a griege?) and I have a several other room decor pieces to finish- side tables, dresser, bed skirt, curtains...oh, basically everything in the room including this lamp...

Also, as you can see, we still have the little mister sleeping in our room...we desperately need to get his room done so we can focus on ours!
